At Vedanta Speech and Hearing Health Care, we provide comprehensive Cochlear Implant and Rehabilitation services for individuals with severe to profound hearing loss who do not benefit from hearing aids. Our expert team guides patients through every step—from pre-implant evaluation and surgical coordination to post-implant activation and ongoing auditory rehabilitation. Through structured therapy and personalized support, we help patients adapt to the new sounds, develop speech and language skills, and reconnect with the world around them. Our goal is to ensure the best possible outcomes and quality of life for every cochlear implant recipient.
Post Cochlear Implant Rehabilitation refers to the structured therapy and support process that follows the surgical implantation and activation of a cochlear implant (CI). The goal is to help recipients—children or adults—maximize the benefits of the implant by developing or re-learning listening, speech, and language skills.
Helps the brain interpret electrical signals from the implant. Involves exercises to distinguish sounds, words, sentences, and speech in different environments. May include listening to different voices, practicing telephone use, or identifying environmental sounds.
Especially critical for children or those implanted after speech development. Focuses on improving pronunciation, vocabulary, sentence formation, and communication strategies. Often involves structured play, storytelling, and interactive conversation.
Ongoing programming of the CI (called mapping) ensures optimal sound quality. Audiologists fine-tune the implant’s settings over several sessions.
Parents or caregivers are often trained to support daily listening and language activities. Home-based exercises reinforce clinic-based therapy.
Helps patients and families adjust emotionally and socially. May involve counseling or peer support groups.
Varies by age, hearing history, and individual progress. For children, it can take several years of consistent therapy. For post-lingually deafened adults, progress may be faster but still requires structured rehabilitation.
